Christmas Week
It's Sunday night and another week is approaching. However, this week is no regular week. Although out here it will seem like it to some, there's no way I could just bypass Christmas. I'll be having practice and I'm sure I will do some of the things that I would normally do if it were a regular Wednesday, but I think I will go out of my way to be jolly and share some Christmas spirit. I will celebrate Christ, I will speak with my family and probably be on FaceTime for a long while, and I will just try and be a blessing to others. I'm trying to think if I want to have a specific meal on that day. The selection is a bit rough out this way though, so I don't think it'll be anything too special, just something I know I will enjoy.
This week I want it to FEEL different. My goal is to be as positive and as cheerful as I possibly can be. My season here so far hasn't had the best outcomes during games, hasn't been the most productive during the week if you ask me, but I don't want to think about any of things. And although I will continue to work hard and push myself and my team of course, my mindset will be different this week. Outside of the fact that I try and approach every week and every day with a new head of steam, for me this week needs to feel a bit differently. So here I am, speaking it all into existence.
Starting tomorrow there will also be 9 days left in the year, I plan on accomplishing so much before the year is over. I'm focused and I'm driven, and if I think of the things I've actually been doing since this month started, and where I told myself I wanted to be before the end, I've made some great progress in many areas. At the end of this post I will have my updated December's "To Do" List and I vow to complete the things on that list that still aren't finished. Outside of that list I had knocked out a couple of other things as well, and I think we will get to ALL of those items when next year begins.
I have an early practice tomorrow so I will have a full day where I can get things done. I plan on having a NO SOCIAL MEDIA day as well as NO NETFLIX day tomorrow, if I could knock out this book (The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*CK) that would be great. I don't see how people read 1 book a week. Well, I guess if I did absolutely nothing else I could too. However, I just think some people read really fast. I read somewhere that Bill Gates is one of the fastest readers in the world, reading at about 300-350 words a minute. That is INSANEEEEEEE to me. I wish I could read at that speed because I love books. I might actually make that a challenge for myself in 2020. Every year I push myself to read more and that'll never change, but it's been a while since I actually set a number on the amount of books to try and read. I've been noticing others talk more and more about possibly reading 52 books in a year. I think I can really try that this year. Will it be a struggle? Possibly... but I am up for the challenge. Let me tell you a little bit about me and books these days though...
First off, I prefer to read an actual book. Like the hardcover or paper back book, a physical book. Although I do have an Ipad, I just find that it bothers my eyes after a minute or two and I don't read as much using my Ipad. But I'm going to try and read on my Ipad even more these days. Which brings me to my second "issue"... If I could just manage to continue to dive into books on my Ipad seriously, then I could have a thousand more books at my fingertips, so I really will try and be better at that. And then third... in the course of a year (12 months), I spend 75% of that time overseas... obviously I'm not taking 52 books with me (although by the time I head back over I should have already read several). I do take about 6-10 books with me every trip though. And this season was different because I do not have the Christmas break where I would go home and exchange books I've read for new ones. So if I could bring less books abroad that would workout for me due to the weight in my luggage alone. Was my third issue more of an extension to my second? Either way I've got one more thing to bring up... the fourth...and I have REALLY been working on this. Currently doing it right now... and this is partially why I haven't finished The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck just yet, but reading more than 1 book at a time bothers me. Why?? I don't know. It always has... ALWAYS ALWAYS. Even in school when I had a history lesson, along with social studies and English. When I had to read multiple things and what not. But I have been trying to move beyond that because there's just so much information and knowledge out there, so many great novels I want to dive into but can't wait until I'm done with the other one because I'm being impatient. Am I crazy? Ehh... maybe a little.
Hopefully everyone is crushing their end of the year goals and preparing for 2020 just like I am. I wish everyone nothing but success and look forward to hearing about some of your progress as well.
